Pula
On the tip of the Istrian Peninsula is the great city of Pula. With a history dating back to over 3000 years ago with the Illyrian people, you can certainly enjoy the creation and destruction that the city went through to become what it is today. The 6th largest surviving Roman amphitheatre is located in Pula, as well as the ancient Roman forum built in the 10th century and the Temple of August from the 1st century. If you have the extra time, take a chance and go see the Brijuni islands in the Croatian National Park. If you love history, see the Austro-Hungarian fortresses from world war 1.
Rijeka
The principal seaport of Croatia is Rijeka and is Croatia’s third largest city. Here you can find ancient castles like the Trsat Castle that was built in 1288 or before. Hosting a gorgeous botanical garden to spend the day in, you also have the Natural History Museum which will really need to be visited to learn about the beauty that not only this city, but the entire country has to offer. If you can, it’d be wise to visit the Rijeka’s main market. Here, amongst the stalls, you can find local goods. You can truly find the best Croatian food around this area.

Driving in Croatia
Driving in Croatia can strangely go in two ways, two very opposite ways. It can either be very easy or the most difficult thing you’ve ever done. The speed limits are 50 km/h in cities, 80 km/h outside cities, and 130 km/h on motorways. A strict 0% alcohol level is enforced when driving in Croatia, so if you’ve had a few drinks it is best to wait it out! Generally, traffic is quite congested in the summers, and easier in the winters. Just relax and follow the signs, they are all in English!
